How do I know if I'm a suitable candidate for surgery?

The best way to determine suitability is through a personalised consultation with Dr Shepherd. He will assess your health history, anatomy, and goals to recommend the most appropriate surgical options for you.

How much does plastic surgery cost?

Costs vary with the procedure, the technique, the length of the operation, whether you stay overnight, and the hospital and anaesthetist involved, so there is no single price to quote. After your consultation you will receive a detailed written quote that itemises Dr Shepherd's surgical fee, the anaesthetist's fee, hospital and theatre costs, and any follow-up care. Some procedures performed for medical or functional reasons, such as breast reduction or reconstruction, may attract a Medicare rebate and private health cover; purely cosmetic surgery does not. Dr Shepherd's team will explain what applies in your case before you make any decision.

Where are procedures performed?

All surgery is performed under general anaesthesia in accredited hospitals across Sydney's East and South. Depending on your procedure and whether an overnight stay is planned, this may be St Vincent's Private (Darlinghurst), St George Private (Kogarah), East Sydney Private (Woolloomooloo), Bondi Junction Private, St Luke's Private (Potts Point), Hunters Hill Private, or Aesthetic Day Surgery (Kogarah) for day procedures. Consultations are held at Dr Shepherd's rooms in Darlinghurst, Sydney CBD and Kogarah. The most suitable hospital for you is confirmed at consultation and set out in your written surgical plan.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner. Results and individual outcomes will vary.
